HOW MANY REPRESENTATIVES DOES MY STATE HAVE? (THE NIGERIAN STATE DELEGATION, ALL STATES IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER))
By: Jumoke Olasoji
When you hear REPRESENTATION, what comes to your mind? Design? Copy? Depiction? Duplicate? Likeness or Delegation?
Many things come to mind
really. But for this piece, one definition stands out, and that is the very
first thing that comes to mind when we hear the word, 'REP'; House of
Reps! Politics! Delegation!
Representation in this sense is therefore, the act
or process of serving as a delegate or agent for another or group. Thus, a representative is one that serves as a delegate or agent
for another, a member of a governmental body, usually legislative, chosen by
popular vote.
Delegation
is the act of giving a responsibility to and process of representing or being a
representative of a group of people for a particular given cause. It could also
mean being assigned and/or entrusted with certain duties.Nigerian State Delegation therefore is the constitutional act and process of being assigned, delegated by a group of people as a member of a governmental body, usually legislative, through popular vote to represent and protect the interest of the given group of people. In sum, it is the constitutional act of empowering one to act for another.
The Nigerian State Delegation consists of the Lower House (The House of Representatives) and the Upper House (House of Senate). Each State (FEDERAL CONSTITUENCIES) in Nigeria has representatives at both levels while each LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA has representatives at the State House of Assemblies. These Delegates are also called LEGISLATORS Or LAWMAKERS.
NUMERIC REPRESENTATION OF NIGERIAN STATE DELEGATES BY STATES
In Total, we have one hundred and nine seats in the House of Senate and three hundred and sixty members/seats in the Federal House of Representatives representing all federal constitiencies across the country.

This is probably the best article that concerns delegated legislation on the internet. Thank you very much. I also read something similar here: https://bscholarly.com/reasons-for-delegated-legislation/
