In a joint letter to the Senate President, 15 APC Senators have officially declared their defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday to the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).





Content of the letter:
Dear Senate President,

After due consultation, with our constituents and stakeholders in our constituency, in proper recognition section 16 (1G) of the 1999 constitution, and for the fact of our party, The All Progressives Congress, we hereby inform the Senate that we the undersigned;



Senators:
1. Dino Melaye - Kogi
2. Barnabas Gemade - Benue
3. Ibrahim Danbaba - Sokoto
4. Shaaba Lafiaji - Kwara
5. Mohammed Shitu - Jigawa
6. Rafiu Ibrahim -Kwara
7. Suleiman Hunkuyi - Kaduna
8. Isa Misau - Bauchi
9. Monsurat Sunmonu
10. Soji Akanbi -
11. Usman Nafada - Gombe
12. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso - Kano
13. Suleiman Nazif - Bauchi
14. Lanre Tejuosho - Ogun


We hereby inform you that we are changing our political affiliation from APC to PDP. We thank you for your exemplary leadership".


15. Abdulazaz Nyako - Adamawa (announced in a follow up statement) 

Ms. Sumonu, who represents Oyo State, later said she left the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and not the PDP.

Buhari said the politicians were being unnecessarily victimised over the Offa bank robbery saga.
