NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SIEGE: OSINBAJO FIRES DSS DIRECTOR-GENERAL

Following a siege laid on the National Assembly earlier today, the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Daura, with immediate effect.




In a statement shared on his twitter handle, Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, shared;

“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice,”


Earlier on Tuesday, some men of the DSS were seen laying siege in an unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex. 

The Acting President, Prof. Osinbajo has in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said the unlawful act was carried out without the knowledge nor approval of the Presidency. 

He described the act as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order.

The statement reads:
“By this statement, Prof. Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.
